BT Phone lines

It's easy. You can do this online - you don't have to call. If you're currently with another phone provider you don't need to contact them to switch to us - we'll do it for you so you don't lose connection.

1. Just choose a Call Plan or package above and click 'get it now'.
2. Complete the order online (you'll need your bank details and addresses from the last two years).
3. During your order we'll let you know whether a connection charge applies. You can also select a suitable time for an engineer to visit, if necessary.
4. If you don't need an engineer's visit we let you know when your new phone line will be active.

If you already have a BT phone line but want an extra one with a new number, either at the same address or at a different address please order an extra line here.

Installation fee of £124.99 may apply (incl. VAT and subject to survey). When you order we'll check your premises and let you know if you need to pay this. If you need to pay, the charge will appear on your next bill.

No connection charge applies when you take a Calls and Broadband package or a Call, broadband and TV package.

Most of our new customers find they don't need to pay a connection charge.

• If your home has had telephone service from BT in the recent past, and the wiring and socket is undamaged and the line still has dial tone, it's likely you won't need to pay a connection charge. You'll just have to pay your line rental, any calling plan costs, cost of calls, and any additional services you want.
• But where there's no suitable BT line available in your property, there's no dial tone on the line, or if you have been disconnected for non-payment, there will be a standard connection charge to pay of £124.99 (incl. VAT, subject to survey).
• If you can't find a BT phone line at your property (look for a white phone socket with a BT logo), and are not aware of the previous owners having a BT phone line, you are likely to need a new line and therefore pay the connection charge. Please be aware that similar phone sockets may have been provided by a supplier other than BT. Sometimes even where a socket exists it may not mean that the property was previously served by BT.
• Please note that some properties, for example new property developments, may have a white BT socket installed that hasn't been connected (ie no dialling tone). In this case the standard connection charge will still apply.
• We'll let you know if the connection charge applies after you've entered your address details and/or phone number - on your order summary before you reach the order checkout.
• The connection charge covers engineering work in your exchange or your property in order to connect the line and is subject to survey.
• If the charge does apply it will be added to your first BT bill.
• Connection charge does not apply when you take a Calls and broadband package or Calls, broadband and TV package.

• If a completely new phone line needs to be installed then it will usually take up to 16 working days, subject to an engineer's visit and availability.
• You can select a convenient appointment date when you order - either 8am to 1pm or 1pm to 6pm. During your appointment time you must be at home, however the engineer may find they can connect your line without needing to go inside your property.
• However, if we find you already have a working phone line in your property and just need to be reconnected to BT, it will only take around 4 working days.

• If we can transfer your number we'll let you know on your order summary, before you reach the order checkout. If it's not possible, we'll give you a new number.
• It's important that you stay connected with your cable phone company until we've activated your phone line.

Paper-free billing means you view your bill on BT.com instead of receiving a paper bill in the post. We'll send you an email when your bill is ready to view online.
